Creativity, Community and Celebration: April at Coloma Court

April has been a wonderfully lively and inspiring month at Coloma Court, with a full calendar of activities that blended wellness, creativity, spirituality, and joyful celebration.

Residents kept active with regular armchair exercises, including some lively games of balloon badminton that brought plenty of smiles and laughter.

A major highlight of the month was our arts, crafts, and poetry week, a fantastic success that showcased the incredible talents of our residents. The week featured everything from a “sip and paint” afternoon to poetry masterclasses, and garden sketching sessions on a beautifully sunny day. The celebrations culminated in a heartwarming exhibition and live poetry readings, attended by residents and proud family members alike.

The creative spirit extended beyond the event, with our regular arts and crafts sessions continuing throughout the month. Residents also kept their minds active with wordsearches, crosswords, and walks in the garden. Activities that are thoughtfully included across our community.

We were also visited fortnightly by the local Anglican church. One of the month’s most anticipated visits came from Winnie the therapy dog, whose regular appearances never fail to lift spirits and warm hearts.

April was a month of milestones, too. We celebrated a resident’s 100th birthday! Featuring original poems written by fellow residents, including contributions from Joyce Taylor, who has led a poetry group for an impressive 46 years (six of those at Coloma Court!).

As Easter approached, we hosted a beautiful Easter event led by the Church of England. Forty residents enjoyed relaxed prayers, hot cross buns, and chocolate treats, with more celebrations planned for Good Friday with our neighbours at the Convent.

We ended the month on a high note as our oldest resident turned 104 on Easter Sunday. A truly remarkable occasion that was celebrated with all the joy it deserves.

April has reminded us of the vibrant community spirit that makes Coloma Court such a special place to live. Here’s to more beautiful moments in the months ahead!
